Curriculum Creation

Engineering Brain Trust

Who: technical leaders (VPEs, CTOs) who can provide deep technical expertise as we scale our computer science education curriculum and platform, informed by industry needs and best practices What: a small group (10-15 leaders) passionate about building a more equitable tech sector and ready to contribute expertise (2-3 opt-in working sessions annually, opportunities to volunteer/mentor, fundraising and networking events) and funding ($50k - $100k annual gift for next 2 years)

When: launching in early 2022, brain trust members will stay involved with CodePath over the next two years

Why: CodePath has achieved remarkable impact - serving over 5,000 students this year (70% of whom identify as Black, LatinX, and/or female) at over 70 colleges/universities including 9 HBCUs, with over 85% of CodePath's Black/LatinX alumni working in tech as software engineers. The brain trust will provide critical expertise and funding to support our continued rapid growth by 2024 in pursuit of our mission to double our student enrollment to 10,000 students annually and ensure 65% of our students achieve technical internships and full time job offers.

What: Determine new curriculum / programs - where do they see the future of tech hiring going, and what emerging skills will CS students need to develop to be competitive? What are they seeing in industry that might inform how we prioritize future phases of curriculum dev (Metaverse/Unity, Developer Operations/Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, others?)
